The Jyväskylä Artists’ Association

The Jyväskylä Artists’ Association was founded in 1945 as an organization for professional artists in Central Finland. The Artists’ Association supports social and professional interests of artists in Central Finland by organising exhibitions and events, by maintaining a gallery and art rental boutique as well as providing connections to cultural institutions and organisations.

Galleria Becker and Art Rental Boutique

The Jyväskylä Artists’ Association’s gallery, Galleria Becker, is located in a quaint, wooden, 1903 house in the vicinity of the Jyväskylä University. The gallery presents 17 contemporary art exhibitions annually. The duration of each exhibition is three weeks.

The exhibition space is comprised of two separate rooms having a total of 56 m² area. The room height is 3.2 m. The surrounding courtyard and garden can also be used for exhibitions.

The art rental boutique of the Jyväskylä Artists’ Association operates at the quarters of Galleria Becker. Art rentals have been an important part of the association’s operation since 1985. The art rental boutique offers artwork for rent and for sale, from members of the association and other artists who have exhibited their work at Galleria Becker.
A collection of over 1000 artworks, including artist prints, paintings, photography and sculptures from over 100 artists is available in the boutique.

Exhibition Applications

For an exhibition in the fall of 2021 the deadline is September 30th, 2020
For an exhibition in the spring of 2022 the deadline is March 31st, 2021

Exhibition space and rent

The gallery rent is currently 1 240 € (1 000 € + VAT 24 % 240 €) / three weeks.
Sales commission is 36,9 % (including VAT 24 %).

The gallery floor area is 56 m² and is 3.2m in height. The total wall space in distance is about 37m.

Your free-form application should include:

• an exhibition proposal
• at least 5 visuals related to your proposal (photographs/prints)
• CV
